Human Billboards Tattoos, Billy Gibby of Anchorage, Alaska, said he would tattoo other parts of his body with ‘sponsored’ ink in exchange for the removal of the ones that currently cover his face.
Porn sites, others that no longer exist, you name it — they are tattooed on Billy Gibby’s face. But three years after “Billy the Human Billboard” started to sell space on his face to the highest bidder, the 32-year-old Anchorage, Alaska man has his regrets. And he needs your help getting the 20 or so tattoos off his ink-scarred face. His offer? Prime tattoo real estate on the rest of his body in an effort to raise $4,000 to remove the facial ones.
Gibby told the Daily News Wednesday that he is afflicted with bipolar disorder, which made it hard for him to find and keep a job. He started a blog in March 2009 and posted that tattooing was a way to make money for his kids and that he wanted to make “the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ for most tattoo advertisements.”
He said Wednesday he had recently been laid off then and needed fast cash to avoid eviction for his family of seven.
“I hate to do this, but my kids are my everything,” Gibby said he decided when faced with mounting debt. “I’d give my life for them to let them live, so I tattooed my face because I refuse for them to be homeless.”
It wasn’t the first time he’d gotten an inked advertisement. The aspiring boxer had goldenpalace.com tattooed on his entire back years earlier for $10,000. That money was used to pay medical bills after Gibby donated a kidney to a random stranger he’d read about in the newspaper.
