Man Returns $3,800 Found in Dumpster, A Tennessee man found $3,800 in a dumpster and turned the money over to police.
Joe Ellis of Murfreesboro, Tenn., was searching a local Speedy Mart's dumpster for cans to make a little extra money. Instead, he found $3,800 in $100 bills in a small plastic bag along with three deposit slips.
There was no name on the deposit slips or any way to identify who the had left the money in the dumpster behind a convenience store.
"I turned it in to the people, the two guys that work there," Ellis said. "And I told them about what happened, and I gave them the money and he was counting it out, one of the guys in the store. He said it was, I don't know, almost… $4,000."
