Michael Anthony 11 cars in collection

Michael Anthony 11 cars in collection. When not performing with Chickenfoot or riding his bike near his California beach pad, bassist Michael Anthony has plenty to keep him busy.

“We have property on Lake Havasu [Ariz.] that I’ve owned for 25 years,” Anthony told Noisecreep. “My wife and I, we’re big lake people — water skiers, knee boarders. We’re out as much as we can. But this is the time of year when [the weather] really cooks in Arizona.

“The best time of year to go is in October,” he added. “Or you can go on one of the holiday weekends in the summer and see all the ‘Girls Gone Wild’ stuff going on.”

He may enjoy the water, but his biggest vice is cars, thanks to his pal, Van Halen/Chickenfoot frontman Sammy Hagar.

“Sammy and I, we do a lot of car stuff,” Anthony said. “We’re big car buffs. That’s one of the things that Sammy and I enjoy doing together, so a lot of time he’ll call me and say, ‘Hey, want to take my car out to a track or whatever?’ We’ll get together and do that. But I really like to do outdoor stuff. I’m an outdoor person. My wife and I have a place out here on the beach. A lot of times I’ll go and ride my bike around-if I’m not driving my cars around.”

When asked just how many cars he has, Anthony hedged a bit before answering.

“Like 12,” he said. “I’m really into muscle cars and hot rods, and stuff like that. I got into it while I was growing up. The friends that I had — even as early as elementary school — were all car buffs. It actually didn’t really start full-fledged until Sammy Hagar joined Van Halen. I had one Porsche that I drove. Then all of a sudden, here comes Sammy with his Ferraris, next thing I know … No, it’s cool. My wife likes it. She supports me on it. There are a lot of other vices I could have that are a lot more detrimental to my health.”
