Lucky's inheritance includes an 18th century painting that has already sold for $15,000. There's also antique furniture, collectibles, jewelry and 10 homes in Fort Worth.
The dog is the sole heiress of Kenneth Bortz, an 85-year-old wealthy businessman who died in 2010. He was never married and his 12 dogs were his life.
"When he passed away there were only four dogs left alive," said Timothy Conally, the estate executor.
Three of Bortz's dogs died shortly after his death leaving just Lucky, a 3-year-old pit bull mix.
Lucky doesn't really like people and rarely comes out from under her little cubby.
David O'Shields, a former employee of Bortz, is her caretaker. He won her over with chicken from KFC and other restaurants.
"We usually give her two thighs and a leg. It got to where she'd be waiting for us," O'Shields said.
The will states when all the dogs have passed away the remainder of the estate goes to Bortz's seven nieces and nephews.
Conally said they are not too bothered by the fact that dogs were their uncle's initial heirs.
"They don't have a problem with that. They didn't have a lot of time with their uncle. He was here. They were growing up in the Midwest," he said.
