Richie Sambora Issues: Missing Upcoming Bon Jovi Shows 'Due to Personal Issues'. Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora will not be taking the stage with the band in the immediate future.
"Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg," reads a statement posted late Tuesday on the band's website, www.bonjovi.com. "All shows will go on as scheduled."
The current leg of the tour stops in Canada April 3 and then returns to the United States for West Coast dates through April 25. The band has two shows, July 24 and 25 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.
Within hours of the announcement, more than 100 comments were posted to the band's website from seemingly concerned fans. Most speculated at the cause of Sambora's absence, while others sent well wishes to the rocker or demanded the band issue refunds for its upcoming tour dates.
The band did not address any of the concerns raised in the comment section of its website but it did appear that the field was being moderated, as dozens of comments were deleted throughout the early morning hours.
"So the moderator is just going to delete posts and ignore the fact that dissatisfied long time customers may want refunds on their tickets" questioned one fan.
Sambora — a Woodbridge native — has struggled with substance abuse. The 53-year-old rocker has done at least three stints in rehab, the last being in 2011. He was also arrested in 2008 for DUI but pleaded no contest to the charge and was put on probation.
