It comes almost two years after he was hit with a demand for unpaid child support by his ex-wife, British actress Joanne Whalley.
She took out a legal charge claiming he failed to keep up a reported $27,500 (£16,000) a month in agreed child support for their two children.
The 48-year-old actress and Kilmer divorced in 1996 after an eight year marriage.
They have two children, Mercedes, 21, and Jack, 17, and according to court documents they reveal he agreed to pay $27,500 a month in child maintenance.
Whalley, best known for her role as call girl Christine Keeler in the 1989 film Scandal, took out the court action after he ex husband fell behind on the monthly payments.
Court documents revealed at the time she took out a lien on his 6,000 acre New Mexico ranch.
A lien is the US term for a court order that prevents a property being sold without the person issuing the order from being notified.
The court documents also showed it was not the first time Whalley, who lives in Los Angeles, moved to secure a debt payment on the property.
He owed her money in 2007, but the lien was removed in 2008 after the situation was resolved.
Kilmer, one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the 1990s, had been trying to sell ranch since 2009.
He originally listed the property for £20m in 2009, but with the property slump in the US slashed the price to £11.5m.
