Wesley Snipes Owed $2.7 Million Back Taxes

Wesley Snipes Owed $2.7 Million Back Taxes. Wesley Snipes was convicted of failing to file tax returns last April. He is now asking an appeals court to overturn his conviction and sentencing because it is "unreasonable." Prosecutors claim that Snipes owes approximately $2.7 million in back taxes. They also say Snipes has not filed a tax return since 1998. At the time of his conviction Snipes was quoted as apologizing and saying that he was "...unschooled in the science and law of finance." In other words, he believed it would probably be okay to decide not to file tax returns for 10 years and owe the government $2.7 million dollars. FYI Mr. Snipes, the government is still after the $500 dollars that I owe them from my last tax return, they still haven't forgotten.

Wesley Snipes was supposed to have made over $13.8 million through the years in question and owed $2.7 million. I'll be the first one to admit that this is a lot of money, however, that still should leave him a lot of money. I think I would be safe in saying that I am in the majority when I say that I wouldn't mind paying $2.7 million in taxes, because it would mean that I was making a lot of money. Believe me, the $500 I owe the government doesn't make me really excited. Some years I even get money from the government, again I wouldn't have much trouble giving that up.

It seems we have a bad curse in this nation of sports stars and celebrities not being able to be happy with their fortunes. It is never enough, they always need more. Sure I make $13.8 million, but he couldn't afford to pay his taxes. Former NBA player Latrell Sprewell once went so far as to say "I got my family to feed" when asked about an upcoming deal. Latrell Sprewell was reported to be due $14.6 million dollars that year. I'll just leave it at that.
