Grandmother Arrested, In March, 72-year-old William Strickland was shot six times and killed outside his home on Chicago's Far South Side as he left for an early-morning dialysis appointment. Neighbors figured it was a random mugging — but police say his 64-year-old wife Janet and his 19-year-old grandson, also called William, are responsible for the murder.
She's been accused of commissioning the younger William to kill his grandfather because she was "sick" of him. Assistant State's Attorney Jacqueline Kwilos said that after the killing, Janet and her grandson went on a "shopping spree" with money they stole from the elder William. Both have been charged with first degree murder.
